Dr Media Zanganeh
Dr Media Zanganeh graduated with an MPharm from the University of Brighton and went on to complete her PhD at the same institution. Her doctoral thesis addressed the challenges of identifying fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) by investigating biochemical markers of prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE) through a combination of preclinical and clinical studies.
In 2023 she joined the Medway School of Pharmacy as a lecturer in Clinical and Professional Pharmacy Practice, where she contributes to both undergraduate teaching and curriculum development. Media has a strong interest in advancing pharmacy education, particularly through the use of simulation and integrated learning methods aimed at enhancing student engagement and real-world readiness.
Media’s research focuses on biomarker discovery related to neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative conditions, including PAE, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and ageing-related cognitive decline. Central to her work is the investigation of renin-angiotensin system (RAS) aminopeptidases, with an emphasis on their role in brain function, memory, and their potential as both diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets
By exploring the molecular pathways underlying cognitive impairment, her research integrates preclinical and translational approaches to enhance early detection strategies and inform future interventions for neurological and developmental conditions.
Clinical and Professional Pharmacy Practice and Therapeutics.
Media supervises Master of Pharmacy students in their final year Sustained Research Projects (SRPs) and a PhD student. She welcomes self-funded PhD students interested in ageing, FASD, and biomarker discovery to get in touch about potential opportunities to work with her.
